Rena Kaplan

I started playing bridge in the mid 80’s at a competitive level having played socially whilst I had small children.  Bridge has been very good to me and has been a major part of my life.

I worked in the office of the Lindfield Bridge Club and at Trumps Bridge Club.

I convened the GNOT In its early days, working with John Brockwell.

I also convened the 1989 Australian Nationals when it was held in Sydney together with Sean Mullamphy.

As well as this I coordinated the teams of 3 for many years when the event was very popular, often having to find up to 70 captains.

In 2005 I moved to Melbourne and together with Stephen Lester purchased the late Jim Borin’s bridge club in Gardenvale.  I loved living in Melbourne although I did retire after4 years as I wasn’t keen on working so hard.

The birth of my grandchildren was enough of a reason to return to Sydney.  My family are a huge part of my life and I enjoy a much quieter life in my more senior years. I am lucky to have a very close circle of friends who have little understanding of the game of bridge which keeps me centred.
